DALLAS — A Dallas judge on Thursday reduced the bond for rapper Yella Beezy, who faces a capital murder charge for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill his fellow rapper and former friend-turned-rival Mo3 in 2020.
Judge Chika Anyiam ruled that Yella Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, will have his bond reduced from $2 million to $750,000 following testimony during a bond hearing, adding the condition that he have no contact (direct or indirect) with any victim, witness or co-defendant in the case.
Yella Beezy, 33, is charged with “capital murder while remuneration” in connection with Mo3’s 2020 murder. That charge happens when “the murder occurs in order to receive a benefit or financial settlement paid upon the death of the victim,” according to the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice programs website.
A grand jury indicted Yella Beezy on the charge last week for allegedly paying Kewon White to murder Mo3 in November of 2020, whose real name is Melvin Noble, court documents showed.
Yella Beezy was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail on March 20, according to jail records.
White and Devin Maurice Brown also face federal charges in connection with Mo3’s death and were arrested shortly after his death, WFAA previously reported.
Mo3 was reportedly shot and killed on Nov. 11, 2020, by someone driving a black Chevrolet Camaro as he drove northbound on I-35E near Illinois Avenue and Clarendon Drive, just south of the Dallas Zoo. The driver in the Camaro reportedly fled the scene.
Mo3 was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
White is serving a nine-year sentence for a gun crime and is in federal custody, records showed, and Brown is booked in the Dallas County Jail.
Mo3 was best known for his hit singles “Errybody,” “Outside” and “Broken Love,” and his murder had long been suspected to be connected to a feud.
